SACRAMENTO -  The next time you book a flight online, you will notice something drastically different -- the price listed is what you will actually pay.

Previously, you would be hit with hidden surcharges and other fees.

Now, when you visit sites for airlines such as United, American, and Southwest, the actual fare prices are posted and there is a disclaimer near the top of the screen that reads, 'Government taxes and fees now included.'

Another impact of the new law is that travelers now have 24 hours to cancel flight purchases without penalty, as long as it is done at least 7 days prior to departure. This allows for more time to shop around for better fares.

Airlines are also now required to display baggage fees on the first screen of websites, and they have to show those fees on ticket confirmation notices as well.

The new federal law went into effect last week.  Several airlines have already filed lawsuits to contest the rule.
