TRACY, CA - While playing against Edison High School of Stockton on Friday, Oct. 23, the West High School varsity football team found themselves fighting to regain their lead in the final seconds.
It came down to a 29-yard field goal attempt with one second left. West High kicker Adam Crandall, a senior, kicked a "knuckle ball" that started low, took a wild rise in elevation unexpectedly, and ended up just clearing the lower left goal post after hitting the cross bar.
But the Sac-Joaquin C-I-F referees didn't see it that way. All five referees quickly conferred then called the game in Edison's favor, a 22-21 win over West High.
Close review of the video tape shot by West High's staff shows the ball successfully cross over the cross bar between both uprights.
You can decide for yourself.
