SACRAMENTO, CA - After a brief absence, News10's Patty Souza resigned her position Tuesday afternoon as meteorologist for the 5, 6 and 11 o'clock newscasts.

Patty hasn't been on the air since July. During that time, the station has received hundreds, if not thousands of calls from viewers asking what she's doing and when she will return.

In her announcement to News10 Tuesday, Patty said she has decided to pursue other life dreams.

To her News10 family and friends, she wrote:

Love, warmth and kindness is what attracted me to News10 almost 4 years ago. I will miss the strong spirit and companionship of the people...especially Dale and Cristina! They are the two most caring and talented anchors I have ever had the privilege of working with during my 18 year broadcasting career.

After a very difficult decision, I have decided to leave News10 to pursue other interests and life dreams. This is nothing but positive for me as my life focus and purpose has shifted in a different direction.

I want to thank all the beautiful and wonderful people of Northern California who have called me a friend and even family. I will still be in the area as this is and has always been home to me and my huge family (Portuguese families are pretty big)!

You might see me out and about hiking, biking, skiing, backpacking or pretty much anything that has to do with the outdoors...so please say hello!!!

Thank you and God bless!

Patty Souza
