WEST SACRAMENTO - Former Giants pitcher Jim Barr is stepping up to support an October golf tournament to raise funds and awareness to keep teen drivers safe.

Barr spent 12 years in the majors,10 with the Giants.  Now as an assistant baseball coach at Granite High, he sees widespread texting all over campus and even in the dugout.  He knows it's a problem on the roads as well. Barr is working with the Folsom based group P.A.R.T.Y or Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth.

The October 14th Golf Tournament event is at Empire Ranch in Folsom on Natoma Street.

And Friday night, Great Hang Up will be coming to the Friday Night High School Sports Game of the Week and giving away  free pizza coupons to some students who sign the pledge not to text and drive. This week it is at Nevada Union High School.
