ROSEVILLE, CA - Dry Creek Elementary School in Roseville was placed on lockdown Wednesday when two suspected car thieves fled from police into the school parking lot.

Sergeant Cal Walsted of the Roseville Police Department said an undercover officer was in the area of the Saber City mobile home park investigating a report of a stolen vehicle when he was confronted by two men, one of whom had a gun. The plain-clothed officer identified himself and the two men fled in a car, said Walsted.

A brief vehicle pursuit ensued into the Dry Creek elementary parking lot and the school was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes.  The individuals were eventually apprehended when their car stopped, Walsted said.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with misdemeanor brandishing of a weapon and reckless driving.

The passenger was released without charges.
