SACRAMENTO, CA - It's the season of giving and this week some remarkable acts of kindness were shared. News10 takes a look back at some of this week's good news.
For the past five years, Navy veteran Rodney Stanhope has spent the holidays living in a shack near Arden Fair Mall, collecting toys for the children of soldiers overseas. This year, he wasn't getting nearly as many donations, but after News10 aired a story about his efforts, viewers stepped up to help in a big way.
A college professor met the recipient of his kidney for the first time. Lindy Pickens' kidneys were failing and James Claflin contact UC Davis Medical Center to offer one of his healthy kidneys to anyone who needed it. Lindy was a match.
Many of our troops returned home for the holidays and a special reunion at Sacramento International Airport ended with soldier Devon Lee proposing to his fiancee Sierra Webster...and she said yes.
The Escalon High School Cougars and Folsm High School Bulldogs gave a nice gift to their communities. Both teams brought home state football championships. The Escalon players arrived home victorious, at 1 in the morning, to a crowd of supporters.
