Great Hang Up: It's back to school for many kids and we thought we'd go back to the basics when it comes to texting and driving.
The California Office of Traffic safety reports two common misconceptions distracted driving are causing extreme danger on the roads:
Myth #1 - " I only look down for a second."
The truth is the average text is 3-5 seconds and your car can travel the length of a football field and 250 feet on city streets.
Myth #2 - "I can do several things at once and still be aware."
The truth is 37 percent of your brain is focused on the conversation not driving. It's called inattention blindness.
So how do you talk to your kids about the dangers?
